Based in Cockeysville, MD, and nestled in the picturesque rolling hills of Hunt Valley, Broadmead is a 94-acre life plan community that prides itself on enriching the lives of seniors.
Broadmead offers its residents beautiful surroundings, inviting homes, outstanding amenities, and a continuum of care designed for peace of mind.
Broadmead faced several challenges related to its in-building cell signal coverage:
- Staff could not count on their cell phones to return calls from residents’ family members depending on where they were in the building.
- Some residents had no viable cell service in their rooms.
- Broadmead had renovated rooms and wings that required better coverage.
- Improving cellular connectivity for emergency response and first responders was a priority.
Broadmead had been looking at several systems, hoping to find an affordable way to bring cellular coverage into the facility so that staff, guests, and residents could reliably make and receive calls on cell phones from any wireless service provider.
When they discovered that MABC’s in-building cellular solution promised better coverage at a significantly lower cost, they were ready to get started.
The business case to go with MABC was straightforward:
- In-building cellular technology provides a comprehensive wireless solution that extends cell services to every corner of a building.
- MABC offers carrier-agnostic technology that supports Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, unlike DAS arrangements which can only support a single carrier.
- MABC’s deployment can be completed in weeks – a significantly shorter deployment schedule than more expensive alternatives, which can take years to coordinate and deploy.
- Clinching the deal for MABC were windfall savings over the alternatives.
A pilot project was initiated in a small part of the building to test MABC’s solution and see how it would improve Broadmead’s access to the wireless carriers and provide reliable connectivity. A donor antenna was deployed and connected to cabling infrastructure and in-building boosters.
The test was a success, and MABC was given the go-ahead to deploy throughout the community. The new technology is now reliably connecting visitors, staff, and residents. And when first responders arrive, they can count on strong cell signals to keep their cellular devices connected.
From the client’s perspective…
“When we learned how much Broadmead could save with MABC, we were intrigued. We needed a building-wide solution that could support all the cellular providers. When the pilot project exceeded our expectations, we were all in. The team at MABC is easy to work with and did a fantastic job for our community.”
